Citizen Code of Conduct
1. Purpose
A primary goal of WhatTheStack is to be inclusive to the largest number of contributors, with the most varied and diverse backgrounds possible. We are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all.
2. Open [Source/Culture/Tech] Citizenship
Our supplemental goal is to increase open [source/culture/tech] citizenship by encouraging participants to recognize and strengthen the relationships between our actions and their effects on our community.
3. Expected Behavior
- Participate in an authentic and active way.
- Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions.
- Attempt collaboration before conflict.
- Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.
- Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants.
4. Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are considered harassment and are unacceptable:
- Violence, threats, or violent language.
- Discriminatory jokes and language.
- Posting sexually explicit or violent material.
- Doxing (posting private identifying information).
- Personal insults.
- Inappropriate photography or recording.
- Inappropriate physical contact (consent is required).
- Unwelcome sexual attention.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following.
- Advocating for or encouraging any of the above.
5. Weapons Policy
No weapons are allowed at WhatTheStack events or community spaces. This includes guns, explosives, and large knives.
6. Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone asked to stop is expected to comply immediately. Organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including permanent expulsion from the community.
7. Reporting Guidelines
If you witness or are subject to unacceptable behavior, notify a community organizer or contact us at what@wts.rocks.
8. Addressing Grievances
If you feel falsely or unfairly accused, notify the organizer with a concise description of your grievance.
9. Scope
This code of conduct applies to all community participants in all community venues (online and in-person) and one-on-one communications pertaining to community business.
